A few weeks ago I commented in someone's thread about never using free blanks from suppliers. After thinking more about those blanks on the shelf, I decided, "What the heck, I might as well use them."
As all too often happens, my customers' tastes prove to be different from mine. I made a pen with a nice, plain orange blank - it looked just like a carrot. The second customer that saw it went crazy - orange is his favorite color. He ended up buying a different orange pen.
Today, I called on a customer that has a customer whose company color is that same carrot color. Got an order for a very nice pen in that material, with a chance of more to come.
Now I have to figure out which vendor sent me which orange blank. ('Cause I may have an order for 50 $150 pens)
Darn free blanks! (Shaking my fist)
