I'm not sure of the markets, most of my pens are made for gifts and supporting some local ministries. Most folks love the black walnut pens/pencils, oaks, etc. Recently I was given a small block of Texas Ebony, Ebenopsis ebano. From what I've learned it only grows in the Rio Grande area in the US and in Mexico and is very dense. I have not worked it yet but in plans to do a small bowl. Enjoy!

Mac, thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I have seen a little Texas Ebony, it is beautiful wood. I 'll keep a look out for some although it I'm a bit too far east for it to be readily available.
 
Thank you for responding! I appreciate you taking the time. Well, to be honest I haven't turned a whole lot of pen yet, still really a semi beginner. But I think some of this red gum or sweet gum would make a beautiful pen. It took a little research even to actually find out what kind of wood it was at first.
