The I've never tried to dye any of my pens before. I had a client whose company color is similar to the following green. I assume I may have to mix a couple colors to come up with the color I need. What kind of dye should I use?

Or you may want to consider just painting with artists acrylic paint. Acrylic paints can be diluted and applied a bit at a time until the desired depth of color is achieved. And they can be mixed to get the color you want. Then finish over the painted wood. Acrylics tend to soak in. Of course, with a water based dye or paint you will raise grain that will require more sanding and will remove some, or all, of the color. If you are going to do many of these, I believe you should experiment with alcohol based dyes.

Personally I have used artists acrylic ink, transparent acrylic airbrush paint, Prisma artists markers, and transtint wood dye all with good results.
If personally would dread having to mix colors and would see if their was a Prisma marker that was pretty close to that color. Michaels has them on sale right now for 25% off or you can order pretty cheap through Dick Blick art supplies. Everything but the Transtint wood dye can be bought at an art supply store, I got transtint at woodcraft.

If you finish with lacquer or CA you can use any water based color. I use liquid water color sprayed on with a air brush. I get a much higher qualty finish than with dye but it only works on light colored wood and if you should sand through the color and hit bare wood, you're screwed.
