Please show your dust collection hood. I'm working on something but need a few options/ideas for a 48" Taig. Currently working (sanding) on 36" dowels. The dust chute will be moved as I sand. The bench it is on is narrow and close to wall. I have Big Gulp but space is restricted. Thanks.

If the dowels are flat you might consider sanding them with a random orbital sander. You can then attach your vacuum directly to the sander.

A bell mouth hood is the most effective way to improve the airflow into a duct. If you don't want to heat form your own from PVC or turn them from wood you can buy speaker ports that are the proper shape. I'll attach a link to a Youtube video by an Aussie showing how effective they are. It is a 6" system using a 3hp DC.

Hey thanks.... not so much the hood as it is the holding bracket. I like the flaring tube(bell mouth)

Working on rounded 1x36...but you gave me a great idea. I can use the Festool with a modified sanding head.

the stand from an angle poise lamp can be very useful for holding hose where you want it too. Remove the head and attach a swivel clamp to hold 4" hose. I use a flexible 3" articulated plastic end . Like "Loc-line" but on a larger scale bought from Camvac i'm the UK but you can certainly get on the USA and elsewhere.

I sometimes use a 4"x10"dust hood with some rare earth magnets to attach to the lathe bed. Easy to attach and easy to move.

This is a start ... just need the hood. Magnetic attachment is perfect here. I started to order from Woodcraft but shipping is 10 for a $20 item. Need to add items.

I trimmed a BigGulp... a little more contouring and good to go. Thanks once again for everyone's input.
