My second DuraClick Slim pen, also in chrome, from PSI. The wood is walnut. It's kind of unremarkable, except that it has meaning. My dad gave me this big chunk of walnut over 30 years ago. He bought it at a yard sale. He's been gone for over 15 years now, so it means a lot. I made it for my sister, she and my dad were very close when he was alive.

Very nice looking pen, and a very inspirational story behind it. I am sure your sister will love this keepsake. Thank you for sharing.

I'm a firm believer that the story is what makes most woods remarkable regardless of their grain patterns, chatoyance, and other stuff. I've mentioned before that I have two pens in my shop that are labeled for my sons, Alex and Ben that are made from oak that came from the high chair that was theirs. Without the story, the pens are simple gold Slimlines with unremarkable Oak wood. Pretty blah, but I hope that someday (a long long long time from now) when they are cleaning out my workshop they run across them and will appreciate their connection to the pens and that their dad was thinking about them when he made them. So, I think you indeed have a made a very remarkable walnut pen. - Dave

Jim, I bet your dad was thinking when he gave you that hunk of wood that one day you would make something out of it, and it would bring back fond memories for you of him. Mission accomplished...
