Here's a set I used my CNC router for the inlay. Inlay is end-grain black limba, while the rings are edge-grain with bronze spacers.

Fabulous! I've made one pen from black limba and found it to be such a fascinating wood, but I think accent use is the perfect use case here. It looks incredible against the cocobolo backdrop. Posts like this make me want to get a CNC or laser engraver or something.
 
Thank you, Patrick. For the inlays as shown above, I used a 22 degree (included, or 11 degree per side) sharp V-bit. For larger inlays, I often use 1/8", 1/16" and even a 1/32" diameter down-cut end mills to clear out most material prior to using the V-bit. I also often use a 30 degree V-bit for inlays that will remain flat, rather than turned.
