durability of thick vs. thin viscosity CA finish

I have two methods of applying a CA finish, one with thin, the other with thick or medium--- just depends on how frisky I feel when I'm turning the pen.


I have not personally noticed a difference in the immediate durability of the two viscosities--- anyone have anything to say about that?

I'm with you, I have a bottle marked "T" and a bottle marked "M". If I grab the "T" bottle, all is well, it just takes a few more coats than the "M" []

The only time I will deliberatly grab the thin is after I have already sanded smooth the CA and noticed a few very tiny lines or dips and just want a final touch up coat that won't require a lot of sanding.

i've not noticed any difference yet either. originally, i was using medium or thick. actually mostly medium. but when i started trying thin, it just seemed so much easier to me, the extra couple coats to get to where medium would get it are worth it.

I use both when doing the finish. Put on a couple coats of thin, then a coat of med or thick, back to a coat of thin. But I usually wait for complete drying in between coats so can take a few hours. I am so picky about my finish I don't rush it, if I find a flaw I end up sanding it down and starting over.

I am working on a new finish, but that will be a different story. I have done 2 pens so far with it but want to do a few more before deciding.
