Hey everyone I need some finishing tips. I just started this addictive art of turning pens about two months ago.The turning seems to come out great but I can't seem to reach the level of finish that I'm looking for.I start with either shellaway or crystal coat and it looks pretty good. then I apply high gloss mini wax polyurethane but it seems to dull the shine.
How do most of you finish your work? When you apply the polyurethane do you let it dry naturally or buff spin it immediately on the lathe? I have reached the conclusion that the ployurethane needs to dry for a day then buff it with steel wool? But what do I know as a rookie pen turner! Please give me some hints that have worked for the rest of you from start to finish.
Also tell me about CA finishes. What are the steps to use CA for a finish?
Thanks
