duck /deer calls

i've had a request from a hunter that bought some pens about making calls. anyone make them?

what kits would you recommend (and i use the term kit loosely) and any pictures would be great too. so feel free to post them. he is after a deer call but i think i'd like to start with the duck calls. any info is greatly appreciated.
