Received this wood from a friend with orders to make him a duck call. My friend is a taxidermist and a pretty good caller. I'm going to use him to test my own reeds and to get my name out there. He also is a co organizer for a sports show which i normally volunteer for and might get a table at the show. This is curly tiger maple that's been laminated together.(he only had a 4/4 piece.) There's 10 coats of tru-oil with a top coat of ren wax. I placed my name, creation date, and # on the call.

Nicely shaped and a good finish. Beautiful wood, with the two pieces joined giving it more character.
I have had people ask me to sign something I have made and I hate to do it as I think it takes away from the wood, but they usually like that. Well done!

Just delivered it tonight. He gave it a try. It's not as loud as some of his calls but it chuckles good for when he wants to give a feeding call for when they're over head. I use CSUSA's reeds. Oh and now he said he'll take me out for a duck hunt:D

How long in between coats of tru oil did you wait?
Duck season is not that fare away.

I waited 2 hours between coats of tru oil using fine steel wool in between.

I know duck season ain't far away. Gotta get out to do some clay bird practice!
