I purchased a small off brand lathe several years ago at one of the Woodworking Shows. If my memory serves correct it was a Hickory lathe. 1/3hp motor. The drive belts have worn out and I need to replace them but I have no idea where to order them from. The lathe uses 2 belts the same size about 4mm wide and
17 inches in circumference. Can anyone let me know of place where I could order a couple of these? I would appreciate any info you would be willing to share with me.

Alan; A search for Hickory Lathe on this site found this thread.

The easiest way to get a belt is to measure the belt with a piece of string. Tie the string around the belt ad run the belt and string together around the belt, then mark the string when you get back to the starting point. Lay the string out flat and measure it. Take the old belt with you when you go to the store. Car parts places stock belts and they are usually spec'ed by length and type.

<gently> I always recommend doing a search before asking questions. You may not find an answer, but then you know it isn't a common thing.

That machine was also sold under the 'Bridgewood' brand with the same model number, MC-616. You might try contacting Wilke Machinery to see if they can help you out with the belt dimensions.

Found the belt

Found a solution. Went to NAPA as was suggested by one of you and they in turn sent me to a local electrical supply company and they were able to find an acceptable replacement which seems to work perfectly. Triflex 0170 - Industry Standard 2L170 - 6mm x 430mm. Thanks to everyone for your help.
