Where is a good place to get drive belts? I've got a Jet 1220 VS and a Jet 1014. I was tempted to go match the belt with one at an auto parts store but wasn't sure if that would work or not. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks,

I have a Jet Lathe and get parts for it (and lots of other tools of mine) here at E Replacement Parts. Great service.

Here is the link for the belt you need. ...and don't believe what they say about taking 9-15 days to ship....I've never seen that happen.

(I would buy 2 so you have a spare)

I look up the part number in the manual, then use the internet to cross reference to a "Gates" brand belt. (then I take a Sharpie and write the belt number on the headstock for the next time.)

then go to O'Reilly Auto parts and tell them what I want.

usually, I can get it right away. Sometimes it has to come from the warehouse and it arrives the next day.

I have tried going to many places to get a belt for my jet 1220VS lathe but due to the oddballness of that belt and the lack of availability I was forced to order it directly from jet. jwl1200-120 is the part number. Oh and buy multiple of them while you are at it.

I tried to look up the manual for the 1220VS on Jet's website - it looks like Jet wants to pretend the lathe never existed. I had to search on Google to find the manual.

anyway - Jet lists the belt as a "260J"

so depending on the number of ribs in the belt, you can find it on Amazon:

Amazon.com: 260J belt: Industrial & Scientific
