Over a month ago, Sears had their 17" "Professional" Drill Press available for $179.00. I figured it was a price mistake and it turned out that it was. I have to hand it to our Sears here in Austin, they made good on the offer! On their retail floor, this unit is priced at $529. I fully expected them to cancel the order but then I noticed they had charged my credit card anyway so I pursued it.

Even though the one I ordered had not come in (and probably wouldn't at that price), the store was kind enough to cancel my online order and then sell me a unit from their stock at the original price. Here is a stock picture of the drill press

By the way, not shown is a laser guide. Not sure how well that will work for pen blanks but its worth a try. My old (Harbor Freight) DP will be up on Craigslist soon!

Great for you. I am still on hold from Sears. I ordered on-line. They told me it was in. I went, it wasn't, they cancelled, they reordered, 4 weeks later they cancelled without notice. Mgr said he would honor the price "IF" they get one in the store. So I sit hopeful but not holding my breath. I am jealous[:p]

I know this won't help but, its a really nice DP. I'm not sure I like the keyless chuck but the construction of this tool is far better than the Harbor Freight unit I had. I hope yours comes in!
