Dragon Box

Just got through with this scrollsaw box with a dragon pattern fretwork glued to the top. I got the box pattern from our scrollsaw sig with Gwinnett Woodworkers and found the Dragon pattern on Steve Goods site and resized it to fit the box.

The top and bottom appear to be sycamore... what is the middle section? Good job.

You are right it is. The middle is poplar, the dragon is black walnut.

Ha, I downloaded that same pattern and started on it, ahh, my attempt does not look nearly as nice as yours. Fine looking box.

Awesome job on the box. The dragon looks great, Steve Good has some wonderful patters. The black walnut and poplar pair well together.

Don't judge it till it's finished, you'll be surprised how good it will look presented properly.

Good lord, a bunch of hours! The dragon alone was 4 evenings working from 1 to 3 hours each and the box took most of a day one weekend to do. I decided the box needed the dragon after I made it and saw how plain it looked. I think it worked.
