Double platter

My brother gave me the hardware since their kids broke the plates. I was going to make it for him but now that is finish my wife took possession of it.
The lower plate is 8" and the top one is 5 1/2 or 6"

Great effort on everything[:X][:X] except the hearts. You need to spend more time on them with your sanding!
What is the timber used for the platters?

I know about the hearts. I thought you guys would not notice. The wood is beach wood.
