Picked up one of AS's new upper barrel closed-end mandrels for the Baron the other day - making “blast-off†desk pens just got a whole lot easier. This one has a Macassar Ebony base and Malachite Truestone body.

Ed, Nice job as always. Do you shave the threads off either end or leave them? I'm planning some desk sets and it seems as though it would be preferable to not have to screw the pen into the the base. If you do take them off which end and how do you do it, I've been thinking it would be easier and look better to do it on the centerband.
