Looking for advise on Buckeye Burl. I got some Buckeye burl blanks - unstabilized. I was wondering how Buckeye burl turns. Should I try to add resin to them first to prevent tear-out? If so, is there someone I could send them to that could do the stabilizing, or is that something I can do myself?

what Monty said..cheapest & easiest..and not all burl is dusty or hard to turn,...much is easy

Just be sure to run your DC to suck away the fumes as you apply the CA. If you don't have a DC, have a fan blowing the fumes away from you. If you forget to do this, you'll remember very quickly when the fumes get to you.

I usually turn my buckeye burl (dry stuff) about a 1/16 or 1/8 larger than needed and then sand it down. the dry stuff will sand fast and easy. I saturate with thin CA between each grit and it leaves a very smooth and stable surface. Good Luck!
