Got a request from a potential customer to replace the barrel on this pen.
IM000239.jpg

It appears to be some sort of commercially made pen to me but maybe someone will recognize it as a component set of one that is readily available. At this point I only have pics and this is the best of 4. He wants the yellow rubbery material replaced with black marble like material or a wood grain blank. Also I can't tell if it can even be taken apart, the reason for the question.

Any info would be helpful.

Doesn't look familiar. Does it come apart for replacing the refill?
Thanks for looking Chris, I am not absolutely sure but I assume that it must come apart if for no other reason then that. I have a query email out to him asking questions like that and does it have any markings or a logo on it. I just got the request earlier this evening and sent the query to him so I don't have any other details as yet.

Not having it in hand makes it hard.

I had a repair request from a jeweler - their pen was Mother-of-pearl, all custom. I worried over that pen for more than a week, I couldn't figure out how to take it apart. Rather than destroy it, I gave up and returned it - unrepaired, but undamaged.

I may end up doing the same if he sends me the pen which is not a given at this point. Would love to see it first hand though at least once.

There is a ballpoint at Lau Lau Woodworks (the "Modern") that is similar on some style points to this rollerball you are showing. So it is a slight chance to be a good alternative if the exact pen does not turn up. The Schmidt Easyflow 9000 M refill approaches rollerball performance.

Thanks Steve, yes the Lau Lau Modern does resemble the pen in question but I am looking for an exact match to facilitate repairs of this customer's pen. More info in the next post.

It's a Locman Italian Yellow Roller Ball

Got an email from my customer, he said that it is a Locman rollerball. Locman is an Italian manufacturer of fine watches and also pens. I found some better pics of them online and also prices, they ranged from $98.95 to $489.99. In researching them I got the impression they are discontinued so they appeared on very few sites and were not available on others though they had pics of them.

Additional info from the customer indicated that the barrel does separate from the other parts so I am going to ask him to send it to me. Will advise as to the outcome later.

I would be pretty sure, there are a few guys around here, who could make one really close to the original.

I think once you have it, you'll work it out yourself
