I can't really get alumalite to gloss up like PR. Also, a lot of my blanks made with alumalite usually have some wood in them as well.

The only way I have been able to get the glossy finish with alumalite is to CA the finish. Does anybody else use CA over it, or is there something I am missing when finishing it?

I have used it in the past, mainly on pens where I mixed "worthless wood" and alumilite clear resin together. They turned out just fine.

With the "new" crystal clear, I find that I don't need to apply the ca since it shines nicely on it's own.

Thanks George.

I'm pretty sure mine are the old "water clear" or whatever you call it. The blanks are pretty old. As I said, they have some wood in them that needed protecting, anyway and CA was all I could think of.

Seems to work fine. Thanks for the confirmation.
