I didn't!!!

Until Dawn walked in and said, "On July 29, 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Act".

So, today is NASA's 60th birthday. Which prompted me to do a little research.

The Soviets launched Sputnik in October 1957.

Interesting reading on the pages marking the 50th anniversary of NASA, can be found here: https://www.nasa.gov/50th/home/index.html

Just a lot of "food for thought"!

NASA was closely collaborating from day one with Space Tracking Stations here and surrounds. Mission Control often came at critical times from local stations. Still happening today. I had involvement from the early days through Zerox etc.We married in 1955.

My entry on duty at NASA Glenn (then Lewis) Research Center was July 11, 1983. There was quite a big celebration a few weeks later for the 25th. Wow, time flies.

President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law Medicare 50 years ago today. The bill-signing ceremony, which took place at the Truman Library in Independence, Missouri, former President Harry Truman was enrolled as Medicare's first beneficiary and received the first Medicare card.
