Do you know of Tactile Turn?

I am developing a pen design that I hope to bring to production, and the one company I look up to most is Tactile Turn. They are doing some really interesting things with cosmetic designs on their metal pens. I found their latest release - Stealth - to be very interesting. DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating, bold red action, and glowing tritium finial.

Tritium finial ????

Tritium is an isotope of hydrogen with 3 nucleons ( 1 proton and 2 neutrons ) and usually is manufactured artificially - very rare in nature.
And it is radioactive. . . so it is a weird name for a commercial product. . . I guess I'll have to check it out !!

Edit: . I did check it out, and that's what it says ..... get your "optionally extra" dose of radiation !!!! . . Oh, but it's SAFE .... (they say !!)
Correction to my previous statement: tritium does occur naturally but is EXTREMELY rare in nature.

"On top of that, we're offering an optional tritium capsule back finial that gives off a safe, radioactive green glow without needing exposure to light."

Tritium is used commonly for radioluminescent devices. Started more with things like military watches, where being able to have an illuminated watch dial was important, as Tritium will illuminate without the need for external power. It's been used in a lot of radioluminescent devices, though. It is radioactive, but it's a very low dose. Around 1% of the yearly background dose we get from the environment anyway.

I'm used to seeing tritium used in night sights on firearms, which makes perfect sense considering the crosshair pattern on the clip. That's a cool pen. I could see something with a little more tactical function being popular with that fit and finish.

edit: I just clicked that link. Wow, that's not a cheap pen @ $179 and the optional tritium adds another $50.

Cool idea, I love tritium gun sights. Begs the same question my glow in the dark pen blank did though, I can't write in the dark so why do I need my pen to glow in the dark?

It could make it easier to find in dim light. Although, I did just purchase a blank that glows so brightly, I think I could write in total darkness with it! :p
