While making some Statesmen pens this weekend, I noticed something different. The 22K kit had a fully plated front section, while the Black/Ti kit had the black threads.

I wonder if this is going to be the norm? The black Ti has black threads and the 22K has plated threads,or are they all going to be plated threads when they run out of black threaded parts?

Maybe Nils will chime in....

Just be aware of some minor change if you have any orders, because they may be different from the sample are showing them.

Nice looking pens Anthony especially the Buckeye. Your picture does not seem as good as your usuall. Not that it is bad just not a good as I am used to seeing from you.

Your customer have to have Grizzly sized PAWS for those pens though! [:D] Care telling us what the OD is of the spirals?

Beautiful work as always! I sure like the look of the swirl.

Does one version stay closed better than the other? Do you see an advantage to either design?
 
You are right Mike, I wasn't going to post them, as they are sold, but wanted to show the different front sections and threw them on the table and snapped the pic while at the office.

Can't get nothin buy you guys [:D]

Doing the blind Pepsi test, I could not tell one thread from the other and they both seem to lock in place the same.
There is no design advantage, other than looks.
 
Nice job Anthony. Looks like a rope twist on the pen barrel but a differet spiral on the caps. Correct, or am I seeing (not seeing) someting.

Don, it is the same cut, I think it is a visual thing, since the caps are standing up.
Funny thing, I sold no rope pens at the San Fransisco show, but sold all of them and had oders for more, from the LA show.

My guess is that these pens are 25% more in diameter than a B2B turned Estatemen...probably around 7/8" ??? [:0][:0][:0]
 
Those are some twisted pens Anthony! I'm anxious to see what Nils says about the plating. I think I like the chrome/silver/whatever it is better.

I too noticed that change in a few kits I got awhile back, but none since...hmmm, not sure why some came that way...

4 coats of Waterlox, let dry each coat over night, last coat 2-3 days, then a light buff. I find a wipe on finish the easiest to apply on the rope pens and gives the wood a natural finish.

Well I've looked at all of our pens and here's how they're sold:
Black TN Rollerball and Fountain Statesman Pens: Black Threads
22K Rollerball and Fountain Statesman Pens: Rhodium Threads
Black TN and 22K Limited Edition Statesmans: Rhodium Threads

So only the non-limited edition Black Titanium Pens have black threads. Everything else has Rhodium threads. Hopefully that clears things up a bit so you'll know what to expect.
