Different Looking Spalted Maple

At least to me it is. Has different shades and colors as shown in the pics.

Maple or -

Maybe beech? Did you cut this yourself?

I've used a lot of beech heartwood with the ivory/butterscotch look I see in these blanks.

Well I bought it from the bargain bin at the local woodworkers source for a buck and the manager told me it was a spalted maple and it is kind of soft.
I posted a pen also showing the results.
