Die holder/ Hf die

I just got my Die holder from LMS and my tap and dies from Hf, and there seems to be some play when I put the die in the holder, is this normal? It seems that when I think that I have the sections threaded correctly and screw them together something is off and doesn't spin true. I have a rikon midi where the tailstock does have some sid to side play so getting centers to line up is a bit time consuming but is possible. I am new to threading so it has been alot of one step forward two steps back which has been fun but also frustrating. I need some help figuring this out.

Ryan....may seem like a silly question but did you set the set screws on the die holder? I use that same set up and don't have any problems with it.

Dies come in 13/16" OD or there abouts and 1" and so do the holders. Do you have the right combination?

Dies will loosely fint the holders. Put the set screws down litely, there should be a small amount of 'float when using dies.

Thanks for the replies and yes I used the right combination and set screws. When I tightened the screws a gap appears on that side. Maybe I am tightening too much. I'll keep working on this till I get this right.
