My "MM" is dirty from sanding. Can it be cleaned? If yes, how and what should be used? How long does this stuff last?

I clean mine using water, dishwashing liquid, and an old toothbrush.

The ones I have been using are about a year old now...still cutting it.

What hurts it most IMHO are:
HEAT due to fast sanding. melts the rubber that holds the grits.
UNCURED FINISH. really loads the sandpaper blocking the grits.

Exactly as I do. I also use compressed air to blow the debris out of the grits when switching for sanding wood to CA sanding, in between washing.

Yes,yes and yes. If your going to spend the money on a set of MM,you might as well take care of it. It will last you a long time with proper care.

I normally us a large veggie brush, they are a little softer than the toothbrushes. I use a little, a real little bit of dish soap. Make sure you have really rinsed them well and hang them to drip dry. I've heard of people throwing them in the laundry but my wife would have my head if I did that!

I give mine to my wife and she returns it cleaned and dried - she gets a prototype pen once in a while..[:D][}:)]
But there are several ways:
* put it into the baggies that are used for the lace undies etc and put it through the washer
* scrubb it with a brush under flowing water with some detergent (thats how I cleaned it when I first got it).
* others put it in jeans pockets and run them through the washer

It lasts really long and can be cleaned over and over again.

I wipe mine on a flanel shirt between sandings and it cleans right up. I wash it every so often as well.
