I went to a Dental Convention this week and as I walked around the exhibit hall I found many things that could be used in penmaking. I found and bought a box of 50 dental masks that filter down to 1 micron for $5.00. I also saw loupe glasses that magnify to 5X with a 6,000 lumen rechargable light that attaches to the glasses. I'm going back to the convention and will be checking out more possibilities.

my cousin is a dentist and has all kinds of glue and tools that come in handy. He also has a miniature sandblaster that shoots out a fine spray that you can direct very acurately. Haven't figured out how to use that for anything yet.

It was funny, a few years ago I borrowed a catalog from my dentist to order some tools. They work really well for making glass beads.
I placed the order through their website.
A few hours later I got a snotty phone call from them.
They only sell to dentists!
But I found out as long as I had it shipped to my dentist this was ok.
So I ordered my tools, paid for them with my cc, with a shipping address of my dentist. (go figure)
It's easier to but assault rifles than a stupid metal pick.

I saw the blasting machine. It uses a 25 micron powder. The demonstrator was blasting the most amazing designs on an egg shell. I talked to the mask guy and his company was in Southern CA. He said he would take orders from none dentists for 1 micron masks.

There were also tool salespeople there and they would sell to non-dentists. You are right about the glues and settling agents they must be shipped to a dental practice.
