Tentatively, I believe we can look at 8-9 demos (3 Friday; 5-6 Saturday).

So Far from responses:

1. gbpens : Sales/Marketing.
2. mg dryer: Beginner stuff
3. Camera Guy from Champaign: Topic? (I'll contact him).
4. Bob Jackson: Polymer Clay

(Bob: I'm not opposed to doing a Dip Pen Demo, but I'll suggest I have it prepared and use it as a back-up if anyone cancels at the last minute, then we have another all ready.)

I'll make contacts with the following and see where it leads:

Ed Brown: (I'll suggest turning challenging materials (Ebonite, Lucite, Italian Resins, Cebloplast, etc).

Mike Broberg (Yes, that Mike): Open topic

Glenn McCullough: (I'll suggest he be a "Keynote" speaker if he comes. I'll suggest Kit Modification).

daleandgen08: Open topic

John Underhill: Open topic

Others to consider contacting:

Brownsfnz
Thewishman
Papaturner (Perry Bridges) - If he does come from Georgia
Doug Thompson - Thompson Tools
Berea Hardwoods owner/ or Joe

Any body else local or afar?

To all,

I think we should comp the registration fee to all demo presenters.
If a guy prepares, comes, and shares his expertise to make our event, I think it only fair that we should help him as much as possible.

Your thoughts?

I don't disagree Bob, that does make sense. Speaking only for myself I would not mind paying the $20 if I were to present something. But then, I am not traveling a great distance either.

Hi folks:

I just traded some PM's with Curtis (Mesquiteman)(Mike Broberg started this nice exchange!). He is planning to attend and will do a demo!

He floated the idea of getting a free vendor table as he will be paying for airfare, possible car, hotel, etc...

MY OPINION: I think this is very reasonable. I have offered him to stay at my house, or at least pick him up/drop off at the airport. (I also offered dalecamino and Ernie Borraga to stay with me - but they want to party at the hotel!!!).

But... Having a demo from "Mr Cactus Juice" has good possibilities to draw folks from the woodturning clubs! As well as other penturners that are on the fence.

Please share your opinion.

Mark,
Had a visitor to my shop today, a local guy who has been turning for years, is a member of Buckeye, and has been doing "Thunder Wood" for years.
Thunder wood is another word for Lichtenberg or wood electrocution.
he brought everything required and showed me how, very cool stuff.
He has been doing it for over 10 years and has perfected doing very thin material, even pen blanks with brass tubes in them.
As we conversed, I brought up the MPG and he offered to do a demo if we want
I invited him to the Dec meeting to meet everyone.

This was also send in a PM:

Hi Guys (still no gals):

Getting closer! Look this over and offer input/comments. The actual time of the sessions can be tweaked as we get closer. More importantly, if you wish to be in a different time slot, we should be able to accommodate that.

Curtis: What Title would you like ?
Gerry (Chasper): Your selection of topics are entirely up to you.

For the Hands-On Demo session (blank making tables), Chris (thewishman) has indicated he would take the foil/steampunk table; Bob Jackson will take the polymer clay table; I'll take the stamp table. So we could use someone for decals and labels; and Carbon fiber. I suspect the carbon fiber could be added to the stamp or steampunk very easily.

THIS IS SIMPLY MY FORMAT - I EXPECT/HOPE FOR MODIFICATIONS FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY!

FRIDAY:

3:00 - 3:45 Sales/Marketing (gbpens)

4:00 - 4:45 Alternatives to Wood/Fundamentals (mg_dryer)

5:00 - 6:00 Closed-End Pens (Mbroberg)

6:30 - 8:30 Gather for Dinner

SATURDAY:

9:00 - 9:45 Peppermills (Bob Jackson)

10:00 - 10:45 Photography/Light Boxes (brownsfn2)

11:00 - 11:45 Hands-On Tables (Polymer Clay; Foil/Steampunk; Stamps; Decals/Labels, Carbon Fiber)

12:00 - 1:00 Gather for Lunch

1:00 - 1:30 Voting for Contests/Vendor tables/Socializing

1:30 - 2:45 Stabilization/Casting (Mesquiteman)

3:00 - 3:45 Door Prizes/Contest Winners

4:00 - 4:30 Myth Busters (Chasper) (Want more time?)

4:45 - 5:30 Thunder Blanks (Mike Anderson)

6:00 + Dinner/Socialize/Party !!!

My thoughts... Magic Bob has done a fantastic job with getting the venue... Mike Broberg has stocked the shelves with tons of door prizes (and Magic also!!), Jason has done the leg work for the Registration process, and the support from Bob Jackson and Jeff has really helped!

I appreciate all the above folks who have volunteered to do the demos!!! I for one and really looking forward to this.

I believe that this can be formatted for the Facebook Page/IAP Mike. And changes can be modified as needed.

And comments, just give a shout out.

Other miscellaneous chores that I will take: (1) I'll print stick-on name tags for all preregistered attendees/vendors; (2) I'll print out a schedule for the activities with local map, restaurants, activities, shopping, etc about 2 weeks prior to the event - for distribution in the swag bags/registration table.

I am working on a draft of the schedule for the sessions.

This was in my first rendition; if we want these tables available, it needs to be announced in the pre-publicity so attendees can bring things to display.:

A table will be available for all attendees to display any pens or woodturning projects they wish to share. Name cards/business cards welcome.

A table will be available for all attendees to bring a home-made jig to display with a note on it's use and any pertinent instructions.

MagicBob... Do we have space for 2 more tables?
