I bought the PSI VS motor conversion kit for my Delta midi and it works pretty well. The new motor has a pulley with 3 ranges, but the old delta one has 7, of course. I was hoping that I could pull the old pulley off the delta motor and put it on the shaft to the new PSI motor and give me more flexibility for the ranges. I'm currently using the middle range on the PSI motor, which is somewhere like 1200-2500 rpm. I can work with this range, but I'd really like to sand slower if I can (without having to change belts, since that's kinda the point I bought the VS motor in the first place!!!). I'm thinking if I could use the pulley from the Delta I could have more options for VS ranges.
The problem is, when I tried to get the pulley off the delta motor shaft, the thing would get stuck after about 1/2" of pulling it off. I removed the set screw completely. I tried EVERYTHING, even supporting the pulley, letting the motor hang, and banging the *$%&! out of the shaft to try to knock it out of the pulley. Nothing worked, so I gave up and I'm now using the PSI pulley. I'm dying to know is there a way to get that pulley off the delta midi motor and if so will it fit the PSI motor?
