Delta Hybrid Saw Help

I have a Delta hybrid table saw that just broke. The handle that lowers the blade just rotates without causing the blade to lower. I cannot see what is disconnected to determine what should be repaired.

Anyone have one of these saws that can offer some assistance? If so, please contact me by PM.

This is probably a little simplistic; but first thing I would check is a set screw (or two) that fixes the handle to a shaft. Maybe those screws have come loose?? Or maybe the \shaft is connected to something internally with some set screws that have come loose.

Normally major tools like that come with a manual that has an exploded drawing of the tool. A look at that might offer a clue as to where the problem might lie??

Well, you can ignore my previous comment. I managed to find a copy of the manual for that saw (or at least that family of saws) and Delta apparently uses a different method of attaching the handwheel to the shaft.

Sadly, the manual pretty well sucks and doesn't provide much information for someone who wants to troubleshoot problems and there is no exploded drawing of the tool.

Best you can do, I guess, is take the advice offered in the manual as follows:

Typically hybrids are between "contractor's" and "cabinet" in cost, function, weight, etc... I was looking seriously at the DeWalt hybrid a few years back, wound up putting my money into other tools and buying a used Delta contractor's saw.

Randy, thanks for doing the research. I too looked at the drawings and found them to be of little help. I spent way too much time trying to figure out the engineering of this foreign made prodcut.

The knob shaft connects to another shaft that has the screw mechanism attached. I can see the knob shaft rotate but it's not rotating the shaft portion with the screw.

Anyway, I found a repair shop about an hour away I'll visit next week with this saw and a Dewalt miter saw that needs a new trigger switch.
 
You might look and see if it has a rolled pin holding the wheel to the shaft. That might be broken and you could use a drift pin to drive out the broken one and get a new pin at the local borg aka lowes hd ace, or a well equipped hardware store.
 
Hauled my saw to the Dewalt/Porter Cable/Delta repair center in Austin where they found the problem. Seems the shaft from the handwheel to the screw mechanism has a small pin on the screw end that slipped out. Parts drawing is very vague on showing the pin.

Wish I had bought American. :frown:
