My DP 350 started acting up recently. Every once in a while, it would growl and vibrate, instead of starting up when I started it. Now it does that more often than not. A spin of the chuck gets it going, but I don't like that from a safety standpoint. The reeves drive appears to be okay, and it is the motor that is not spinning when this happens. It is fairly new, but out of warranty, so I am looking at having to fix it myself. Should I just go ahead and order a motor and associated parts for it? Anybody got a better source than Delta? (I hate to reward them with more business for selling me something dodgy)
Is there anything I can do at home to alleviate this problem? I have gone through the reeves drive, and everything is pretty smooth and clean up there. The belt is good, and nothing is binding. I was looking at eventually buying the Steel City 17" press, but if the Delta fails me right now, I will have to replace it with something cheaper and locally available. (Home Depot, which will just give me another piece to throw out in six months) I am in the middle of a bunch of projects with a very tight deadline, so if there is a way to keep the thing limping along, I would appreciate hearing about it.
Thanks in advance,
Dave
