Lowes has their Delta tools on sale until 08 Jan. I was looking today at the Delta 9" bandsaw and was wondering if anyone had any experience (good or bad) with it? Sale price is $90. Thanks.

I've had one for several years now, and I think it works well if you use it for what it's intended. I use wider blades and try to make sure I'm using a sharp blade and proper tension. I've ripped some 3" plus thick material and it's worked ok---probably not as well as my old larger bandsaw, but I don't have space for it (gave it to my Son), and this has been a good compromise.

I've got one of those except it's an 8". Same basic Bandsaw. It was given to me and I totally went through it..cleaned...lubed...painted the base...put a timberwolf blade on it and it'a a mean little cutting machine. But like mentioned above, it has things it can do and things it can't do. Works great with a little pen sled for cutting blanks.

I had been thinking about the Delta in the past, but always thought it didn't cut thick enough wood. At that time I wasn't turning pens and was concentrating on bowls. Based on what I discovered in my research, and, if you are wanting cut mainly smaller blanks, the Delta should be fine.

I went with a Craftman 10" bandsaw. It can cut 4 1/2" thick wood along with having the 10" depth. With this bandsaw, I can still cut bowl blanks if I need too.
