delta 46 460 woes

So... yeah.
When I'm REALLY tired, and working at the lathe, I forget things. Like - NOT to turn on the lathe when the index pin is engaged. Why would I put that thing ON? I dunno. No good reasons really.
But I've done it about 3 times since I've had my lathe.

Maybe that's why I'm having this situation...

I just moved my belt to the middle pulleys. Turning the wheel by hand forward is easy, but in reverse it's really really STIFF.

Normal? WHen it was on the third pulleys, the fastest speeds, it was easy to turn by hand both directions.

Hey Shawn,

If you turn by hand in reverse, flip the reverse switch. It makes all the difference in the world. Or I guess you could just leave it on the 3rd pulley. I'm guessing you were cutting threads on another kitless.

yep normal. Reverse makes it easier. It is based on the mode teh motor is in.

If its any comnsolation, I do the same thing with the index pin - and kick myself every time I do. I use it when I need to get the collet chuck off, or need to get it extra tight.

That happens to me too when I have the collet chuck on and put in a blank to barrel trim the end with a hand drill.I keep meaning to make something like a red ribbon with a small magnet on each end,so I can stick in on the base and have it drape over the on-off switch,something like that.

I catch myself think too far ahead,and forget to unlock it,drives me nuts!

whew! at least I'm not the only one. Makes me feel better. I REALLY don't want to break it.
