I just upgraded from my trust old LA200 to a lightly used 46-460. The only thing wrong with it is that it's missing the retaining ring/clip that holds the lock-down bar in the banjo into the cast iron part of the banjo.

It's definitely part #5140059-84, as shows here.

I could pay the $6 + shipping and order one. But honestly, this is just a 1/2" or ~13mm standard off-the-shelf retaining ring, right? I'm inclined to just grab one at the local hardware store instead of insisting on the OEM part, if only to save some time.

Anyone have a 46-460 who could possibly give me the precise inner diameter measurement?

I would go to your favorite hardware store and pick one up. Take the bar it fits on with you. The hardware at my local Ace seems expensive, but it is expensive to stock too. I spent $25+ on about 30 screws this morning. All various metric and SAE sizes to hold carbide cutters on my home made handles. The retainer clip is probably less than $2. Home Depot here has a 10 pack for $3.46.

You're talking about the ring that goes on the back end of the bar at the back side of the banjo? If so, I'm sure you can use a standard off the shelf spring clip as long as it will fit into the groove.
You a Also might think about making a clamping block to just clamp the end of the bar. Just a thought if money is tight.
