There are two factory refurbs with 6 month warranty on ebay for $449. They are from an authorized dealer in Greenville, SC near the Delta refurb center in Anderson, SC. They have a little over a day and a half left before the Buy it Now expires. As a bonus, ebay is offering "Bill Me Later" so you can get it with 6 months no interest/no payments and of course no sales tax. $50 shipping is a little painful, but it is going to be hard to beat this deal - especially if you can do local pickup!

I have see that auction on eBay. So a refurb has a 6 month warranty, and a new one has a 5 yr warranty. Do these lathes have a good enough reliability record that it is worth the gamble to save money and go with a refurbished unit?

I purchased my 46-460 in November 2010, a few months after this new model was first introduced. The 5 year warranty was well above the industry standard for lathes of this size. With that said, I haven't had a single problem with it. With a savings of close to $200 (plus tax) I think it is a pretty good deal.
