does anyone have any application tips for this stuff? (i.e. any sanding bewtween coats, how far away you spray, interval between, etc.) i've been having trouble with my CA finish on my shaving brushes lately and would also like to try this on a few pens.

thanks!

I spray at 8 to 12 inches. I check the finish after each coat and I put on around 5 coats and sometimes more. Just a light coat each time. Don't make it so thick it runs or you'll have extra sanding. (Not that I've ever done that[:I]) I use it on bottle stops and have great results.

8-12" is very good advise....I spray 2 coats of the Deft sanding sealer first, let sit overnight, sand lightly with 600, then I will spray between 5-8 coats of the Deft Gloss. I wait about 1 hr. between coats. The key to it all is to wait and let it cure. I let it sit a week, then I will MM, WD, TSW. Hope this helps.

I would just follow the instructions on the can. DKF is correct in that you need to let the finish cure before you rub it out. One week is good, two is better.

You waste lots of money with the rattle cans. I recommend investing in an airbrush (HF often has one on sale for $6). Virtually eliminates overspray and also applies a better finish.

Good advice so far. I have recently stopped sanding between coats of Deft spray laquer. It sorta melds in with previous coats. Yes, it is wasteful but very handy. I have a mess behind my lathe [xx(] but I'm the only one looking at it. So...so what? [:p]

All advice above is applicable. I really like this finish, even though the cure time is extended.
If you start to MM after a week of curing, and the finish comes off in little noodles, you need to allow it to cure a little longer! DAMHIKT!!
