I love a pen with a story. We visited a friend's farm in Western IL. The kids spent an afternoon hunting for antlers that were shed by deer. As a thank you to our host, I put this together from a scrap that was 70% mouse eaten. The kids wouldn't let me cut up the ones they found 
It was pretty easy to turn, the big thing I learned was that you have to turn to size, not sand the last bit. Since the different part of the horn have a different hardness, they sand at different rates.
Put on a CA/BLO finish and it went on great. Thanks for looking, any suggestions/comments welcome.
