I lost a few bobbers a couple of weeks ago, and realized instead of paying $2 a pop, I could just turn a few on the cheap. Quick trip to the hobby shop for some basswood and 1/8" plastic tube yielded a few proofs of concept. These were my first 5.

After some testing on Tuesday, with a few tweaks they should be perfect.

Not pretty, as they'll all be lost eventually! Matter of fact, one has already been lost, and the other 4 (plus some more) have been gifted.

Jason, some of my fisherman friends I've given these to have told me the same thing, that they're "too nice to use!" I always tell them that they're made to be used, and that I'd be happy to turn more when they're sacrificed to poseidon!

If anyone else has a change to give this a spin (double pun, sorry), feel free to post them.

I'm also planning on turning a very large, oversized bobber to use as a bottle opener. Got a piece of wood at the ready!
