This isn't really "show off" worthy, but here it is. I was loving everything about this until I pressed it. This blank has a nice peacock color to it and looks great with the chrome finish. It's a beautiful looking pen except for that one spot, the usual place. Dang it. Oh well. I really like these pens except for that one thing. This is exactly why I have several of these around the house for personal use. You can see the patch job, where I should have used some shavings instead of just plain CA to make it less noticeable.

Note to anyone who has not made the Compson and wants to try it: when you think you have rounded off the top shoulder enough, do it more! They work better with the resin/acrylic blanks, but still don't sit right unless you really round off the upper shoulder which, once again, I apparently didn't do enough. The upper bushing diameter is useless for this pen. The tip extension is not dependent on how the clip sits and once you press this one, it can not be dis-assembled without trashing it. If anyone knows how, please comment or message me.

The chipping at the top of the blank is the issue, it would seem.

And that comes about when you press in the part that holds the clip in place.

Otherwise, I find the pen very attractive. . . I had thought to try a few kits.

But . . . based on your experience . . . I think I'll pass and look elsewhere.

Mal, I really like the finished product. It's just a challenge to put that clip piece on. They are wonderful to use, well balanced and an easy EDC. The only other complaint I have about them is that the black around the plunger gets scratches after a while. A friend commented that he liked how the pattern matched the grain of the wood on one I did in black palm. That was without me telling him they were scratches.

Do I detect a bit of "misplaced humor" in your last two sentences ? . . . . . ;) . .
