I've seen in the thread on the tap and die group buy the suggestion to buy a SINGLE start tap and die to see if cutting your own threads is something you really want to do. I know this is a much cheaper alternative and possibly a good way to get started. My question is what size tap and die would I need to make a pen along the lines (size wise)of the Baron or Jr Series or even the Churchill/ElGrande? It's my understanding that a single size set will cut both inner cap threads and outer coupling threads. What would be used to cut the threads to install the nib section? Would that require another size set or just a tap compatible with an existing section size? I'm just guessing but if I went with a smaller size tap and die set (smaller in size that the original cap and coupler T/D set) I could just turn my own section?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated also any useful sites would be nice too!
Thanks,
Mike

For the Churchill/El Grande style, get a 12MM tap and die, the finer the thread the better it will look but all will work. For the nib, get a 10mm x 1 mm set. Get both the tap and die for the nib as you may have to chase the threads on the nib.

The nibs for the Baron and Jr series are not standard. There has been talk of a buy for those, but no one I know of has gone through with it.
