cutting board and nkife

I have a friend that bought a house.
For a home warming present I made her a cutting board and did a knife handle to match. this is Avonite.

I made the rectangle one and discovered I could not fit it in the flat rate box. So then I made a round one instead

I bought the knife without a handle from Wood craft. They have many different styles including hunting knives.

Hello Alice, I have never heard of Avonite. Similar to Corian? Availability? Thickness? etc.

Hi Mark,
Avonite is a solid Surface. Corian is made of acrylic for the most part. Probably half of Avonite is made of polyester. if a solid surface is translucent or has pieces of translucent material it is part or all polyester. corian actually has some newer colors with what looks like polyester.
It is turned and glued the same but Polyester Avonite turns as a powder while corian turns in shavings. It is important to wear a mask for both.
Look up Avonite on the internet and you will see all the colors!

We just did a counter at work out of the same material/color. I scored a few scraps and made a pen out of it. Polishes up real nice.
