Custom cap finial

I busted up the cap finial from a jr kit so I just decided to make my own. Came out OK. Doesn't look bad but doesn't look professional either though. Olive wood with a CA finish. I should have used the parting tool to square up the tenon after finishing with the CA to get a cleaner line where the finial meets the clip ring.

Took me two tries to get it right, which frustrates me because I was hoping to line up the grain from the cap to the finial. I ended up having to get the wood for the second cap from another block so couldn't match up the grain perfectly. But it looks ok.

I think it actually looks really good. You have kept it at a very natural curve in the shape. Sometimes wood finials can come out looking kind oof chunky.
Double kudo's if that is your first try at making your own parts.
