hello folks

here are two bowls which i've made recently

the black one is 11x7" and was set on fire then wire brushed to get a textured finish

the other one is 13x7" and was too good to set fire too!!!

both piece's have a bowl section of about 4" dia

Great looking bowls...

..particularly like the second one...presume that is olive wood...but which flavor..russian..??...looks like you got the bowl part in the 'sweet spot'...nice job..!

I'll bet the black one was pretty nice before setting it on fire, too, and it still is!

Both look like great (and a lot of) work.

penhead: the wood is olive ash- common english ash which has been infected by a non damaging bacteria causing the oilve figure some als belive it is caused by stress or sometimes when the tree is very old.

hturnings:its all one piece- good fun to turn but not for the inexperinced turner!!!
