Mention cross cut and I get excited. A technique introduced by my mate Peter Hay over 40 years ago. A true test of the turner's tool ability and know how. The short grain doesn't like being cut that way, and a lot of the time explodes. The trick is light passes, I love my negative rake carbide, ultra sharp and not aggressive. High speed and take your time. Regular stoppages to check the progress. Thin CA is your friend, flood it on as you go to ensure it stays in tact.
This Bocote is absolutely magnificent. It has all of the wow's in one piece! One of my absolute favourite cross cut Timbers.
Ebonite lined, ebonite section and a Jowo #6 nib.
High gloss CA finish.
Thanks for looking
