I've tried the PSI crochet hook kits and costumers aren't that impressed with their hooks. I decided to try my first handle for a regular hook. Client wanted a 5.5mm. I stabilized and dyed curly maple pink. 7/32 drill bit was a perfect fit for the 5.5mm shaft that I glued in.

Thoughts, comments, suggestions.

Visually, I like it.

I wonder if it needs a ferrule around the handle where the hook is pushed in. All of my tool handles (chisels, gouges, burnishing rods and such) have them, to prevent the wood from splitting. I doubt there will be the same sideways pressure on a crochet hook that woodworking tools experience, but a shiny metal ring could be a decorative feature as well as have practical value.
