Couple proof of concept bottle stoppers

I get ideas from youtube and everywhere else to play around with. RJBwoodturner did pens with colored pencils in them so I said heck I will try it with bottle stopper.












I thought it turned out pretty good. you can see from the first picture that I do have pen blanks ready just have not turned them yet.

The next bottle stopper was more of a thought from the wife. She works in a copper lighting manufacturing plant. She brought home a bottle of copper sawdust from one of the bands saws. I cast it in good ole poly resin.
I thought it would shine up more during the sanding but since the shavings were already oxidized brown when cast it gave it more of a muted color with sparkle.

I still like it.

Looks good Bobby. Many people have used brass filings from keys and made pen blanks and also bottle stoppers and key rings. May want to give that a try. I have gone to Home Depot and asked them for them and they were glad to give them to me. Mix of metals in them though.
