Spent the better part of this afternoon and early evening in the ER today.
Dee sliced open her pinky on her left hand today to the bone. She was placing a Corning ware bowl on the stove and hit the Granite bullnose on the counter top with the dish and it exploded in her hand. Six stitches and now I lost my packer and merchandise picker for 7-10 days.
Not only that she is now taking full advantage and has me at her beck and call, "Honey get me a cup of tea, Honey take my shoes off, Honey get me a pillow to rest my hand"
All kidding aside she deserves 1st. class treatment for all she has done for me.

Now would be an excellent time to hire a college age young lady to train to pack and ship. Before you hire said college student make sure your Life insurance is paid up.

And while you are at it, Maybe find Dee a local college football player to wait on her and get the tea, pillow, and remove her shoes, etc.

That way you would have time to train that helper you got.....maybe she could teach you how to bake.

(grinning ear to ear)
Really, I am just trying to help.

That's something we found out after my brother in law and I remodeled our kitchen and installed Granite Counter Tops, they don't give like the old Formica top did. busted about every wine glass and regular drink glass we have by bumping or dropping them. Take care of Dee and hope she heals fast. Give her my best.

Roy, I also hope she heals fast. Now go get her another cup of tea and re-fluff those pillows! Maybe some ice cream. She looks like she wants some ice cream too. And a foot rub.

Roy,
Glad Dee's healing and has you to take care of her....

One of my worst scares was a few years back, Dianne was washing a ceramic dish we had picked up and it broke in her hand... sliced her finger almost to the bone too... I was on my way home from work, but had a 45 minute drive, I walked in to see Dianne sitting with her hand over he head, wrapped in a dish towel soaked with blood.... we made a 20 minute run to the ER where she got 7 stitches... Dianne is on massive doses of blood thinner and a cut get pretty serious pretty quick.

Take good care of Dee.... good partners are hard to find.

So why did it take exploding cookware for Dee start get the first class treatment she deserves? If you hire the college kid, make sure you check to be sure she is over 21 first.

Tom, this is the Original Cattleman's in the Stock yards in Oklahoma City that Dee and I are going to have lunch with Paul today and pick up some of his pen turners vice's. Great hamburgers, even better steaks and their calf fry's are hmmm good. Dee always enjoys going there as Paul is one of her favorite's.

Hope she heels soon, that stuff finds your foot you don't find it it just waits in a little area just waiting, and then wamm ...... yes dear two sugars in my hot tea.

My wife and I had an oven safe ceramic bowl ~10 inches across spontaneously shatter when it was in the dishwasher. The bowl was not new and had been through the same dishwasher dozens of times. A circular crack formed all the way around the circumference of the bowl. When we held the two largest fragments next to each other we could see that there was almost 1/8" of distortion between the two fragments. That bowl must have been under a lot of stress to hold back the force necessary to cause 1/8" of distortion. I'm glad neither I nor my wife were handling it when it decided to let go!

Roy, don't listen to those so called mates that said to get in a dolly bird to help out......it'll just get you in trouble again. !!!! Trust me Roy, I'm your only true friend here....
Here's whatcha need to do....it's so simple you'll wonder why you never thunked it yourself!!! Tell her it's ok to pack slower for a bit and to use her other hand untill she's healed. And just so you don't spoil her too much, make sure she knows that she needs to make up the cost of the dish once she's back up tp speed.

Anytime buddy.....

Best wishes to you and Dee, Roy. I hope she heals quickly and completely!

It must be the season for cookware to break. My wife (Linda) made stuffed mushrooms the other night in a Pyrex pan (and they were amazing!). The next night, the washed dish was put in the oven on a baking sheet for storage, and of course the oven was off. The next day, we had nothing but glass chunks on the baking sheet! No telling why it broke, but thank goodness it wasn't while on the counter or handling.

Skippy, thanks so much, I did as you said but must have done something wrong. Just found my pillow and a blanket on the couch along with a note, that said Hope you sleep well you &#*@!&#.

I don't cook with Corning ware any more and haven't for years. When I lived in Seattle I came home from work and my aunt had fixed dinner and used one of my Corning ware pans in the oven and it broke also. Good thing she did not get hurt but it was a messy job cleaning up the food that was in the pan. It was all over the oven and those are supposed to be oven proof too. We ended up going to a burger place to get a burger and such. Since then I don't cook with those pans. She felt bad as at Christmas time that year she bought a new pan and had it under the tree with a big red bow on it and it was filled with home made fudge and I enjoyed the fudge. I still have that pan. I just don't use it for cooking... Fay
