corn cob stabilize

I was thinking about trying the pickle jar with the vacuum gauge to home stabilize con cobs. Anybody ever do it and what kind of resin would I use?

I have used thinned down wipe on poly, the down side is that it takes a while to fully cure. The other option is to use plexiglass disolved with acetone, but I have not tired that yet.

Some people use Minwax or Bondo wood hardener.
