So I hit it lucky this weekend and scored a set of old kitchen / steak knives. I have read where folks have converted them into parting tools. I'd appreciate any photos of converted kitchen knives so I can see what I can make out of my curbside haul!

Thank you in advance.

Second try.
I made one from an ordinary table knife. Works. I would prefer a fatter handle but this works. Whatever you do, be sure you choose a good quality steel and avoid cheap, and brittle, stainless steel. If I make another it will probably be from a large bandsaw (e.g. bandmill) blade.

My very best parting tool is made from a Dewalt Bi-Metal reciprocating saw blade. Just ground off the teeth and made a crude handle. It is very thin and works great.

Now if I could only find an old "super thin" Ginsu knife! :)

I hadn't thought of that .... I scored 6 of those Ginsu knives at a yard sale for a buck. Threw them in my tool boxes as utility knives...

What an idea...
