I have been thinking about getting ANOTHER tool box. I already have a SnapOn roll-away for mechanic tools, an older Craftsman roll away, theoretically for wood working tools, and my Dad's old wooden chest.

I considered a Gerstner, but was very disappointed to find out they are made in China now, so let's not start a political debate. I happened to notice that Grizzly tools is now selling wood tool boxes. Has anyone got one and can comment on the quality> I am guessing that these are also imports.

I'll probably just try to buy an old one on ebay. But man, the used prices are as much as the new prices.

Opinions welcome, TIA Carl

Haven't tried the Grizzly, but if I have a Kennedy top box that I love. Several of my co-workers are using their fathers Kennedy box's. You can often find them on Craigs list halfway reasonable.

Carl; The two Grizzly toolboxs I would recomend for pen turning supplies would be the bench top 23" oak in the 6 or 10 drawer models. They run $124.00 and $164.00 each. I have an old Sears Craftsman 10 drawer from the 50s that holds my taps, dies, measurement tools, plus a lot more, and is always at arms reach on my assembly bench. However Harbor Freight has an 8 drawer 23" Oak toolbox that is very nicely made listed for $99.95 on sale for $79.99. I have seen this in their store for as low as $59.99 plus you can use the 20% off coupon and get it even lower. Even at $79.99 you couldn't buy the slides, locks, felt, mirror, wood, or chrome corners for that amount of money, plus have to make it yourself. Jim S

I think it all depends on the sizes of objects that you need to store in the drawers.I've seen some really nice boxes made out of wood that had top quality ball bearing slides.I think the BB slides are a must for easy opening and closing.

If there is an industrial liquidator-type store in town, that might be a good place to look.I found some really good BB drawer units at a big machine shop that was going out of business, that fit perfectly under a workbench.
