Mischief managed.
3D printed base plate with a delrin cartridge. This one accepts 5/8" custom mandrels which is my standard size mandrel so I can swap in and out for different parts as needed. Just leave the stock long enough for a center drill for the tailstock support and turn it off at the lathe when you're ready.
Easily interchanges with the stock mandrel holder. Just swap the brass plunger or in my case I just bought extras from McMaster.
Definitely has some potential.
